got results from RE now what?
So, yesterday I got the results from all of our tests. DHs sperm count and mobility was slightly below average. My cycles are long and unpredictable but, there is really nothing else wrong. My doctor wants to start clomid with IUIs next cycle. Monitoring and IUIs are not covered by my insurance. Now, I am wondering if I should just try the clomid without the IUI. I just don't know how costly this is going to be.

Re: got results from RE now what?
Before I switched to an RE , I was with an OB who had me on Clomid with timed ....We did 7 cycles without luck ( was not properly monitored w/ sonos etc...)
After I switched to the RE and did Clomid combined with IUI I got PG on the 3rd cycle with DS #1...
Do you ovulate on your own ? That is Clomids function....
Clomid has a tendency to dry CM, so IUI's bypass that issue...It is something to consider

Re: got results from RE now what?
Even if you are just taking the clomid and not doing the IUI you should still be monitored. The actual IUI (at least where I had them done) is only $250 is close to that. I know its easy to say only but you will already be spendign the monitorign money whether you do the IUI or not so its not that much more.
Clomid does not make you ovulate. It makes you produce more follies and in turn you will ovulate.

Unless I am misunderstanding what you mean, I respectfully disagree....
Clomid induces ovulation...whether it be one follicle or many...For people who "do" ovulate it is used for "super ovulation" ( to produce multiple follies) but for people who do not, (like myself) it makes you ovulate-period...Unfortunately I have taken Clomid for more cycles than I can count between my first 2 pregnancies.....
I completely agree about the monitoring part...Either way the monitoring is imperative...
Good luck !!!

I agree on the monitoring even if you don't do iui. You need to know how you are responding to the clomid.
ETA: I didn't think clomid makes you O either. I know it matures the follicles and you only O mature follicles, but some people need a trigger to guarantee O. I O on my own naturally, but take the trigger to guarantee it.

I O on my own but I am spending a ton of $ on OPks because sometimes I do no O for 60 days. The montoring is actually what ends up adding up more then the IUIs it seems.
