Can olive oil go bad?
I have a big plastic jug of olive oil that I bought at BJ's and I use it to fill a smaller dispenser that I keep on my stove for cooking. I dont' have a lot of cabinet space, so I store it in the garage. When it was cold out, I noticed the oil had gotten thick, almost like it partially froze- so I would bring it in the house, let it warm up, and it was fine.
Today I went to refill the dispenser and I notice that the oil in the jug has particles flotaing in it...almost like the fat seperated or something.
Does this mean it went bad? Should I toss it?

Yes oil can go bad. Sometimes mine smells really funky and that's when I throw it out.

Re: Can olive oil go bad?
When olive oil gets cold, it does sort of start to solidify and get a bit grainy. It does not mean that its gone bad! Oil can go rancid, but you would know by the smell!
