Pacifiers..what kind?
What kind of pacifiers does your child take? I want to go and buy a couple for when the baby is born but I want to buy the best one...one that doesnt come loose (god forbid) from the base, something that is well known but easy to get. TIA

Re: Pacifiers..what kind?
We use the Soothie Pacifier that they gave the baby in the hospital. Most hospitals give this kind. We tried others when we brought her home but she wouldn't take it because she got used to the soothie during the 4 days that she was in the hospital, since I had a c-section.
They sell them at Target and Walmart so you don't have to worry about holding onto the one you got from the hospital forever.

Bella loves the NUK paci. I also have the gerber ones. She doesn't like them as much even though they are prettier!
ETA- see, she has the nuk in my avatar pic!

Re: Pacifiers..what kind?
DS takes both NUK and the soothie but the NUK is easier to keep in his and prefers this one. He wasn't crazy about MAMS

Re: Pacifiers..what kind?
Ds ONLY takes latex, and only the Imagine line (John Lennon) which is pretty much a MAAM binky....
Ryan loves his mimi (binky) and it will be our hardest obstacle to overcome- I try so hard to only give it at naps... but he just needs it...
Honestly- I know Im bad- but Im in no rush to get him off of it...
He will be off bottles long before he no longer has his mimi

Re: Pacifiers..what kind?
The hospital gave her a Soothie, so we took one from there and I bought a bunch more. She will take a Nuk, but doesn't really like it. She's not really into the pacifier anyways, so no biggie.

I use the Soothie ones that we got in the hospital. she's not a big pacifier fan, but she does take one sometimes. I think she's finding her thumb, so I may have another thumb sucker on my hands!

Re: Pacifiers..what kind?
Sara likes the soothie in fact she has about 6 in her crib. WHen I put her down she pulls them all to her so they are all in arms reach . I took one out of her mouth and she grabbed another in her sleep

Re: Pacifiers..what kind?
DD would only take the Soothie when we first came home from the hospital. I think it is easier for them because it is shaped like the bottle nipples. Since then, I have also been able to give her the Avent ones and the Mam ones. The Avent is the only brand that I have found that come in a 0-3 month size other than the Soothies. Most of the other brands come in 0-6 months, and the nipple is a bit bigger. My DD could not manage it in the beginning. In the Avent ones, the 0-3 is a smaller nipple, and in the Soothies, it is softer. Both of these features make it easier for them to use. When I found the Soothies at BRU, I bought her the pink ones (because I didn't want her to still have the blue one from the hospital since she was a girl). When I got it home, I realized that the pink one is for 3-6 months. So, just check the size on them when you are buying them. Also, don't buy too many because some babies won't take them at all.

Re: Pacifiers..what kind?
DD spit out all pacifiers until, when she was hospitalized at 10 weeks, the nurse tried a soothie. She was hooked immediately!!! She LOVES her pappy! The wubba nubs, which are pacifiers with stuffed animals attached to them, were great when she was a newborn. The stuffed animals kept them in her mouth. She still uses the 0-3 month ones, and she is 17 mos. Although sometimes she does use the 3-6 month ones. They are the same size, but the 3-6 month ones are a but sturdier. They are the only 2 sizes, but the ped. said it's fine to keep using them as long as she takes a pappy-which given how much she loves them, may be at her wedding. How do you think her DH will respond on her wedding night when she puts her pappy in her mouth before going to sleep???

Hayley didn't like the soothie ones in the hospital. She took to the Nuk ones when she came home.

Re: Pacifiers..what kind?
The hospital I delivered at (LIJ) did not give pacifiers. When we came home I tried the NUK and he spit them out. Then I tried the Avent latex ones and he still loves them.

Re: Pacifiers..what kind?
We only used the Soothie in the beginning. We brought some to the hospital and the nurse told us to throw them away. She showed us how easily it came apart and how the baby can choke on it.

Re: Pacifiers..what kind?
With Caiden we used the NUK silicone orthodontic pacifiers. He took to them no problem. I'm going to get the same one's this time around. I didn't like the hospital ones because they always looked way too big for the baby and it looked like it was suffocating them. JMO about them. I know a lot of mommies use them, they just weren't for us! I've also heard that the yellow latex one's are not good for some reason. I just can't remember why?
