HCG shot in arm tonight - totally freaking out - *UPDATE*
Tonight I have to trigger at 1 a.m. for my Friday retrieval. I am kind of freaking out because honestly, I don't feel very confident in my DH's ability to do this. 
It's my first intramuscular shot, and DH wasn't even there for a demonstration.
Any words of advice or encouragement? Any good online tutorials?! (1/2 kidding, 1/2 not!!) TIA 
Friday UPDATE:
In the end, DH did a GREAT job!  I didn't feel a thing! (aside from a pressure that alerted me the needle was in!!) I iced it for a few minutes beforehand, and all of DH's orange practice definitely paid off! 
Today was my retrieval, which went really well! We got 10 eggs, and now we await fert report tomorrow!

Take a deep breath! When DH did mine, we were told to do it like a flu shot, kinda fast in the upper part of the arm. I think some people ice the area first to numb it, but I never did.

DH did my IM shots in the upper, outer quadrant of my butt. I found it better this way I
couldn't see and I iced the area for about 5 mins before. It's really not bad. Good luck!

Thanks, everyone. This shot HAS to be in my arm - not a choice as far as I know! (I even have an "X" for DH to aim at). About to look for YouTube videos!

Really, totally, fully freaking out. We watched one (not so good) video and my Dh was like "Whoa!" Um, yeah, really reassuring, honey.

Tonight is my first trigger shot, I am sure it isn't the same type but still DH has to do it to me and I am dying inside.
I am not afraid of shots but I am afraid of him doing it to me! I don't trust him at all, especially because he seems a little too excited about it!

DH has to do that for me and I am more nervous about HIM doing it than the shot itself!
Your DH practicing on an orange has got to be a good start- and the other girls' advice about the ice is great as well. Good luck! Just keep in mind it will be quick!!!!!

I haven't done an im shot but I had issues with the trigger shot. I was unable to do it myself and DH had to step in an do it. I was impressed that he was able to do it without freaking out. I'm sure your DH will do it because he knows you are depending on him Good luck!

it is def a choice whether you do it in the butt or the arm - youre doctor just didnt tell you that!!
DH did all of my IM shots in the butt. i was nervous for it at first, but it was fine. you will be fine! its worse to think about then it is to actually do it, i promise!!

Try hard not to freak out. My DH had a heart attack thinking about it! I had the X on my arm and everything.
The first time, he freaked out so bad, he wouldn't do it. We called my SIL and she did it for me. I didn't feel a thing, even asked her if she did it yet when she was all done.
2nd time, DH "manned up" and did it. Again, I didn't feel anything.
Ice for like 5-10 minutes and he'll be fine.
I'm so praying for you guys!!!

How did your shot go?
I had to do mine at 2am also for a Friday retrieval.
I had DH pinch the skin and I did the shot, he is a giant baby and ended up passing out as soon as I was done.

Yup, I know. The big macho man couldn't handle watching me sticking myself with a needle.
As soon as I finished this is how it went:
DH: Are you done?
Me: Yup, you can go back to sleep now.
DH: OK - boom right on the floor.
Luckily I was able to protect his head from smashing on the tile floor.
What a night.
