At what point do you decide to see a different doctor?
Got my BFN this morning after IUI #3. We also did 4 medicated timed BD cycles before we moved on to injectibles & IUI. It's not that I do not feel I am getting good care, I just wonder if a different doctor would do things differently.
I am just frustrated that I am not pregnant. I was lucky that 1 clomid timed BD cycle got me pregnant with my 2 yr old DD.
I am just kind of feeling like I may need a fresh perspective.

I think you need to change Drs the minute you start questioning if the protocol is the right journey. I always feel it can't hurt to get a 2nd opinion as to what is the correct journey for you.

Re: At what point do you decide to see a different doctor?
i was pretty happy with my dr, but after numerous failed IUIs and 3 failed IVFs, i started to think that a new perspective would do the trick.
it doesn't hurt to make a few consultations and hear some other opinions.

I agree with the PP. If you are questioning, the time might be now. Have you asked or questioned your Dr.? Maybe change your protocal to try something different? Have you had all the necessary and appropriate testing completed? I've always said to myself, "you'll know when you know." Whether it's leaving a Dr. moving onto IVF to IUI or taking a break, you'll know. Trust your instincts.

Re: At what point do you decide to see a different doctor?
It's hard because I think sometimes when things aren't working, we look to find a reason and changing the RE could be one. But it could also be that IUIs just aren't working for you, no matter which doctor or protocol.
You can always go and get a second opinion. That never hurts!
I thought about changing my RE when we were trying for #1 because we were doing various things that weren't working, but then all of a sudden things did work and I loved my RE afterall

Re: At what point do you decide to see a different doctor?
I didn't question my doctor after my 2 IUI's with injectibles failed b/c despite my age and our "unexplained" diagnosis, I was realistic that IUI may not be the path for us. I then went on the do an IVF cycle with that doctor. Although that cycle ended in 2 chemicals (after FETs), and although I still had faith in my doc, the mere thought of returning to his office was too hard and I just felt I needed a fresh place - both for my emotional well being and for new ideas/perspectives. I do know that we learned A LOT from my first IVF cycle so I do feel I owe him for helping me through the journey. Wishing you lots of LUCK!!!

Re: At what point do you decide to see a different doctor?
Have you asked your dr if he would recommend a different protocol? Or what he suggests you do differently to change things up? Or how long he suggests doing IUI's?
For us, IUI's were really our only option since IVF would have been OOP and we just weren't ready to take the chance on spending that $$ The RE willing to do as many IUI's as we were comfortable with (we did 7 until we got preggo on our own)
I think we all expect/hope for quick results when we're seeing an RE, because we're in their hands so things should be going 'better' than before... but ultimately its up to our body what it is and isn't going to do despite everything we do to coax things along! For some people, the first IUI works.. for some people the 4th IUI works. I think statistically they say that the chances go down after the 3rd or 4th and you should think about changing your protocol after that.
If you're happy with your dr.. question what your next steps are going to be If you feel you're not getting answers you want/like - then that's the time to think about a 2nd opinion

Re: At what point do you decide to see a different doctor?
i started with dr b. then after a while i left to try another doc.
i went back to dr b and he welcomed me back with no hard feelings at all. i just told him i was freaked out and had to see what was out there.
i knew if i didnt try another dr or go for other consults i would always wonder kwim? there is no right or wrong gl
