best of the best in the city

My beta was Monday, and I'm coming away from my first IVF cycle with nothing--no pregnancy and nothing to freeze because the rest of the embryos degenerated in the lab. This after 3 chemical pregnancies since 10/09--I just can't help but think that the problem here is egg quality even though I don't have high FSH levels.

My eggs fertilize and sometimes implant, but they run out of steam before the pregnancy ever gets off the ground.

I'm taking 2 months off from all this to collect myself, and in the meantime I'm hoping to audition some new doctors until someone starts talking to me like he's looking at my individual case and designing a protocol to address my problem instead of putting me on a stock protocol for my "age" which is what San Roman did at RSofNY--excessively conservative and unchanging despite the fact that I went through sono after sono for the whole first week with little to show for all that stimming.

I know Columbia and Mt. Sinai are rumored to have top notch RE practices. I'd love to hear who you recommend.

I just starting seeing Dr Park at Columbia. I was impressed how organized everything is when you go in. My sister also just got released from Columbia to her OB. She got PG on her first IVF. We are both not young and the success rates are very good at Columbia.

My sister did tons of research for the major ones in the city and the success rates were very similar.

Also to add to my comment on Columbia - when the Dr you see gets your test results they sit with all the other drs in order to come up with the proper protocol for you so you are acutally getting the opinion of all the Drs even though you only see the one.

Well..I'm not a fan of Columbia at all...but as you can tell, everyone has different expereinces. All I can say is to do some research and look around the internet. I go to and love Dr. Tortoriello at SIRM-NY, but would also recommend that you check out Cornell..Dr. Davis or Spandorfer and NYU. I would also add that if you think you have immune issues, the only people that will treat these is SIRM and Dr. B. Columbia, Cornell and NYU do not treat these, but you can work with someone that does and go to these places.

when i looked up the info for Cornell, what came up was the Center for Reproductive Medicine at New York Presbyterian for Cornell and Columbia. Do both share the same practice? What's the difference between the Columbia practice and the Cornell practice?

They are separate practices. Go to ivf.org for information on Cornell (CRMI). You can't go wrong with any of the doctors at Cornell.
