how much is too much for bedding?

We got the first set as a gift at our shower so I splurged but I didn't pay for it so no big deal, right? then we had a boy so we bought new bedding, DH not thrlled but went along with it. Now baby #3 is coming and I want to have a girl set as back up just in case. Not sure what the gender is but one set I fell in love with is coming out to $247 on Land of Nod but now they're offering 15% off.

Re: how much is too much for bedding?

Personally, I would never buy it after my first.
I don't use the bumper, the crib skirt is temporary...
With Ryan I had PB kids quilt and sheets - probably $150
With Colin a monkey/jungle themed sheet and some art Chat Icon

So, I vote too much. But if you love it, go for it.

i personally didnt want to spend a lot on bedding since you dont use all of it. my set was $99 and that was good enough for me!

Re: how much is too much for bedding?

I registered for mine and got it at my shower but it was $150. Anything over that is a waste IMO...seriously as pp said you don't use blanket at all, crib skirt got removed after 9 mths. Bumpers are still on and we use the sheet. Diaper caddy thing such a bigger waste!

Re: how much is too much for bedding?

I voted 150 but meant to vote over 200.
I think mine is 150-175 and I think that's even a bit much. I'm not too happy with the price. Especially if I might not even use it a lot or for long.

that being said I fell IN LOVE with a set that would have run me about 600!! DEF too much money... needless to say I didn't register for it or buy it!! I knew I'd be out of my mind to do that!!

All in all you know your financial limitations of what you can and can't afford. So what might be too much for one person might not be for another. If you like it and can swing it then go for it.

Re: how much is too much for bedding?

I just ordered a set online, b/c they didnt have it at any store.
It was $250...which included the bumper, comf, valences, ruffle, diaper thing, and we ordered the matching hamper and mobile.

I have already ordered stuff for accessories and things...so I will be way over $300....but I dont mind bc the theme we are doing, Nautical.

I feel it will be able to grow with my little guy! :) Chat Icon

Re: how much is too much for bedding?

the sets we registered for were $179 and $189...of course i loved the ones that were $300something, but i felt like those were def too much to spend of bedding!

Re: how much is too much for bedding?

If you can afford it, it's not 'too much' -

Sean's was under $200 from Nautica - and I use everything, sheet, bumper, crib skirt - and now the quilt

This guy's was under $200 from Pottery Barn - same thing, quilt, sheet, bumper and crib skirt -

I personally didn't LIKE the sets that were $300+ many of them are very fancy - it's just not my style

Re: how much is too much for bedding?

Ours was 150+

DD is 21 months and I am still using all of it - months ago she began using the blanket too. the bumpers although came out for a few months are back in and used.

I really feel like we've gotten great use out of the set.

If you can afford it - than it is not too much.
