Anyone ever hear this?
You cant roll your windows down until your baby is 1 yr. old????
Not that I ever have all the windows down... but if its cool out- I always crack one front and one back (CRACK- thats it)
Well this past Tuesday a friend was driving behind us- and went on an on about how she couldnt believe we did this... and how its not allowed til they are one... and Ive never ever heard this before...
(I could see not being able to have ALL of them down, or take the baby in a convertible- but cracking the windows???)
It makes me wonder- back when we were little cars didnt even have AC- some people still drive cars w/o AC- how do they and their babies survive???

I roll my windows down when DD is with me and it's not hot out, she likes the noise. Never heard of this...

Hmm never heard that either, although I didn't keep the windows all the way open when Aidan was younger cause if you are driving fast you can see how the wind in the backseat would take the babies breath away. So I only cracked them if anything.
I don't know about you ladies but when I was an infant we did not have carseats, we had "car beds" - no straps or anything. My mom said it was more or less a vinyl basket with metal legs (Comfy!) in the back of her 68 Mustang. So we were probably not even high enough to get the wind from the window.   And I'm sure it was all the way or a good amount of the way down with no AC!

I've never heard that either.... Sounds like your friend needs a reality check, or not try to make you feel like a bad mom. I hate when other moms are quick to judge methods/decisions of another mom.

ok and not to bad mouth my friend- but she smokes in the car while her kids are with her....
So when I told my DH this he was like- how is it... its bad for us to roll down our windows- but its ok for hers to enhale smoke?

yes but you are only cracking the window, I am sure its not too windy back there from that!

Um hasn't she ever heard the expression "People who live in glass houses..."
I would of totally called her on the smoking thing. I mean really all your kid could get is a bad hair day, her's can get lung cancer

Well I'm a super bad mommy then because I had Jack out in a convertible 3 series BMW (not fast, in good overcast weather) prior to him being one.
And I've seen numerous Mom's driving Jeeps with the top down with older infants.
But alas, I'm in Florida where it's still legal to talk and use a cell phone and to drive with people in the flat bed on a pickup!
I love all the magical 1 year junk. Things should be dependant on height and wieght.. etc... Not just on the magical first birthday everything changes.

Actually- I was so insulted by what she said (since its so out of her chracter) that I didnt even think of the smoking thing (but I would never say anytthing about anyones parenting anyway)
