Yes I have a craving for snails
When we were little my grandmother used to make us snails. Yes we used to dig them out of the shell with toothpicks and eat them. They were so good!! I live in Oceanside. Does anyone know where I can get them from. I heard the canned ones were pretty good. At this point I will even try those if I just knew where to buy them. Please Help!!

YUMMY!!!
My grandmother used to buy them at the fish store. Maybe you can call a local place and see if they have them.

A Taberna has a snails appetizer. There's one in Island Park and another in Atlantic Beach.
They are out of the shell though.

Thanks I think I am going to go for dinner on Monday night. I went to the fish market today and they said they were illegal to sell in the US. I am going to have to investigate!!

Re: Yes I have a craving for snails
You can harvest them from your back yard, pop them in a jar with carrots for two weeks to flush out their system, and cook them! Local and delish! I do love escargot too!!

From what I understand there are 2 kinds of snail. Sea and land. I think you eat the ones from the sea.

Classic French escargot are land snails, they are normally your common garden variety snails! They are just farmed. But I do think some people also eat sea snails. They are all good for you! Good luck finding them!
