Would you do IUI or IVF?
I am a carrier for Fragile X. It is about a 2.5-5% chance I could pass on the mutation to a child. We have the $ to do IVF with PGD. Would you go for it or try IUI?

Re: Would you do IUI or IVF?
Does IVF allow them to "research" the embryo in any way to decrease the chances of your child having Fragile X? If so, I'd do IVF. If it does not decrease the chance, I'd try IUI first. Good Luck!

Yes with IVF we would get PGD so it would allow us to only put back the non-effected embryos...IT is a lot of power!

Re: Would you do IUI or IVF?
We also have a genetic issue. We did IVF with PGD testing as well. The first time we did IVF we produced an amazing son. Now, we are doing it again (retrieval was yesterday).
It defenetly is alot to think about but I'm glad we did it. Science is here for a reason and it was an amazing process!
I wish you the best of luck! If you ever want to talk feel free to FM me.

Re: Would you do IUI or IVF?
You must have the premutation???
5% chance sounds really low for a fragile X carrier (but I'm sure you have spoken to a genetics team).
IUI doesn't help at all... unless you have IF... and you are talking about doing IUI to TTC and then do an amnio & terminate if positive?
I honestly think you should speak to a genetisist rather than an online community.
