Japanese straightening-thermal reconditioning recommendations
I've been getting my hair straightened for 7 or 8 years now. I usually go to Hayato in NYC, but since i'm way out east... it's a long haul for me.
Just wondering if any of you have a recommendation on where you go to get it done. What town? how much is it? how long have you been getting it done there?
I normally pay $360 and that includes a haircut.
Thanks ladies!

I go to Hair Club IB, its in Queens. I am going next month and it will be my 4th time there. The price is pretty cheap like $130. And if you go with 4 people one is free. We have 3 of us going in May so if you want to come it will be even cheaper for us all.

Re: Japanese straightening-thermal reconditioning recommendations
ok, I have a question (or two) for you girls . I have been thinking about doing this for a looonng time. I have to wait a little longer because I am pregnant now (with twins). I am thinking of doing it even more now once I have the babies because I need something very low maintenance.
Sooo... 1. Once JHS is done, I don't need to blow dry it or anything to keep it straight, right? I hate blow drying (takes too long). I just want to wake up and go.
2. I know for the first few days after you have it done you can't do anything that will put a dent in the hair (i.e. no putting hair behind the ears, etc.)....How hard is it to keep it dent-free? What about when you sleep? How do you keep the hair from denting/pulling/etc. those first few days?
Thanks girls!

1.Correct. You will not need to blow dry for a while. I used to walk out with it wet and it dries straight. But once your new hair starts to grow in, you will have to blow dry it but it doesn't take long at all.
2. Yes no ponytails or clips of any kind. I have never had a problem keeping it dent free. Sleep... no problems, no dents, no issues. Honestly i just keep it down and go about my day.
Just as an fyi- you cannot get this done while pregnant or breastfeeding.

I was hoping for somewhere closer to me out in suffolk. I already go to nyc, so the bronx isn't that much different. Thank you though for the offer!

I go to Hair Club I.B. too...this will be my 5th time there. They do excellent work, and the salon is very spacious and clean. Thinking of doing the Fashion Perm this time, anyone ever try it?

I can recommend someone who does Brazilian and/or Keratin. But she doesnt do Japanese though. I know shes in the Shoreham area.

Oh when are you going? I really want to get this done and that is a great price-would 4 people then split it? That is really awesome! If you need a fourth person, I am definitely interested!

New Mode in Plainview
I wouldnt do new mode. They messed my hair up so bad. I made the mistake switching from Hayato to new mode because I wanted to go closer and what a mess. Never again.
I have the driest hair imaginable. I will never ever recommend this place to anyone.

thats the plan! 4 people split the price of 3. I have to see if my cousin has her work schedule and what days she is off, i'll let you know when we narrow down dates.

Thank you Julie! I am always free so if you would have me, I would love to finally do this for myself and enjoy wash and wear hair!
