My mom came up with the name G-G for Grandma G. I told her it sounded like a stripper's name: GiGi. Needless to say, she calls herself Grandma.
My mom said the EXACT same thing...my response was pretty much the same...I told her GiGi and Grandpa sounds like grandpa has a French mistress...or French poodle!

Re: unusual grandparent names...
We will be using Grandma and Nonno and Nonna. Growing up, I had a Grandma, Poppop, Grandpa and a Grandma Bina (short for her name). Wish my dad was around so my could have a Popop. I liked that it was a little different.
I def can understand not wanting something that sounds like a stripper name. What does your DH say? Can he mention something to his mother so you don't come off like that bad guy? If not then I agree with the others let it go and hope LO goes with something totally different.
