does anyone have the new type of central air that doesnt use the vents? my DH's friend is in the business and is gonna come by to give us a estimate. he said its much less invasive that the regular central a/c and costs less. i have a ton of questions for him when he comes by, but just wanted to hear some opinions on it.

thanks!

just from talking to my DH, the guy said it costs around $4,500... but of course it depends on the size of the house, etc...

when he actually comes by, i can let you know the price!

Re: central a/c

I've seen a lot of the ductless A/C setups, and it looks like a small A/C wall unit. It's not invasive during the installation, but it's an eyesore after it's installed, IMO.

it's not the ductless a/c cause there wont be a mounted wall system like that. i dont even know what it's called but he said it is small holes instead of vents and they dont have to run the tubes throughout the whole house.

High Velocity A/C. I haven't seen any in person, but I've read about them. Much smaller ducts and openings, so therefore you need more air velocity to get the same amount of cooling.

i have seen them in old brown stones - if you can put the small vents in the ceiling or florr they look fine - they look a little weird when they are the walls - they are defiently smaller and the easier fro retro fit - not sure on cost - it was common in boston to use these for ac since there was no room for regular duct work
