Monitor? Day & Night vs Best View?

If you registered for/bought either of these monitors, which one did you decide to go with and why? I am torn between the two and dont know which one to choose. All the research I've done, baby bargains and consumer reports point to the day & night as being the better of the two in terms of picture/sound quality and I guess price. But is seems like most people choose the Best View and I was wondering why? I like the zoom feature, but do I really need it if I'm sacrificing picture/sound quality? Do I really need to pan the room?? Any opinions are appreciated! Chat Icon

Re: Monitor? Day & Night vs Best View?

My best view camera fell off the shelf last week and broke and I was so upset. I've been using it for 1.5 years and loooooove it. The zoom and pan feature is the best and the picture quality is great. so I contacted summer infant to see about purchasing a new camera and they don't have the model that I have anymore. Being that I was not willing to give up the oom and pan feature, it was either buy a whole new best view system or get the new baby touch. I wound up buying the baby touch and love it. I have another baby coming in July and I will just need to purchaese another camera and i will be able to scan between both rooms.

So I highly recommend the best view or the new baby touch. You will not be disappointed.

We have this one for video:

Summer Infant Day & Night Baby Video Monitor with 5" Screen - White

And this one for audio:

We had just gotten the audio one as a shower gift because I didn't think we'd need a video since we were having DD in our room the first few months. Well, I was WRONG. When she was about 3 weeks old, I ran out and got the video monitor. I couldn't stand not being able to see her all the time!!!! So I got the cheapest video monitor I could (used a 20% off coupon so it was like $75 or something) and it works great. I love that I can see her in the dark, too.

The audio on the video monitor, though, is pretty awful. So we have both on all the time, and I just keep the video monitor on silent. The audio one is portable, too, so if I run out to get the mail or something, I can take it with me, whereas the video monitor isn't. But I don't need to carry it around. It's in the living room where I spend almost all my time.

I registered for the Best View because it's digital. I don't think the Day & Night is digital.

Does the Best View have the same capabilities as far as "night vision" as the Day & Night? I would imagine seeing the baby in the dark would be a pretty standard feature for a video monitor. I'm so confused!

Re: Monitor? Day & Night vs Best View?

I have the best view and it is GREAT. I can move the camera basically anywhere in her room from my handheld. I can zoom in and out to see close up of her face or a wide shot of her full body. It has night vision so it works great in the dark and it has a great color picture during day time. The sound works great. I have no complaints at all

We registered for the Summer Day & Night. Can't really say why, except some of the prices on the others just seemed obscene. It had everything we felt we needed. Guess time will tell once baby is here!

We went with the Best View, it had better reviews on Amazon.com
