Ovulating every other month?
I have a feeling that's what is going on with me. I know that as long as you ovulate and sperm are good and where they need to be when they need to be it's possible but do you think I could actually get pregnant only oing every other month? Anyone get pregnant when they only O every other month or know anyone who did?

I think regardless of how often, anytime you do ovulate, you have a chance to get pregnant.
Did you look into that consult with Dr.B?

I did look into it, I spoke to Kim the patient coordinater and she was less then helpful but I did find out the initial consult is $650 and it's just not possible for us right now.

Re: Ovulating every other month?
Of course it is possible!! If you O with good quality eggs and a good sperm count - then absolutely! it could take a little longer than average because you have half the amount of times per year to try.
I was suspecting that was my issue and the months I don't O I would have 35-42 day cycles. I felt frustrated that I wasn't Oing and having such long cycles that it took that much longer to move on. I've been pregnant three times (m/c, then DD, then another m/c) and each of those happened in 1-4 months. So, I didn't think after my m/c in August that I'd still be TTC. But, being monitored by an RE has made me realize that I don't always O and it's not as good quality as I'd like. I'm now on Clomid to help with my ovulation. One good thing is that it makes the cycles shorter for me.
Good Luck!!

Re: Ovulating every other month?
Is there any reason why you "think" you ovulate every other?
Any RE besides Dr. B can verify that for you.
But in answer to your question you can absolutely get PG ovulating every other month. Same as those with one blocked tube....they still can get PG also. Its just 6 months out of the year to try instead of 12.

The reason I suspect I only O every other month is based on over a year of TTC and temping, charting and OPKs and recently using the CBEFM and patterns that I noticed.

Do you get your period every month? Do you think you are having anovulatory cycles??

I do, my cycles are anywhere from 36-42 days. I know some of my cycles are anovulatory. I probably should have noted that I'm not new to IF, I've done all the testing and medicated cycles and even IVF. I have PCOS and I have been taking metformin and many other supplements and vitmains to try and get me ovulating. In the past I didn't ovulate at all. I guess what I was thinking was maybe even after all the stuff I'm doing that I'm just going to be a person who ovulates every other month.

My cycles are that long as well. Its really frustrating because I feel like I am always playing a waiting game and wasting time.

Re: Ovulating every other month?
i didnt ovulate every month - more like every other cycle. my ovulatory cycles were a minimum of 42 days, usually with ovulation occurring anywhere from CD32-42. my anovulatory cycles were pretty endless, they would go on 60-90 days and then id end them with provera.
as the other posters said i dont see why you couldnt get pregnant anytime you actually do ovulate. however if you are ovulating late in your cycle (post cd25 or so), its possible that the egg quality is compromised. the effects on egg quality depend a lot on your hormone levels earlier in the cycle and the anov cycles. if you have a typical PCOS 3:1 LH:FSH ratio then the effects on egg quality when you do O are likely worse.
also keep in mind that along with PCOS comes a host of immune and thrombo issues that may be causing lack of implantation on cycles when you do O. it's pretty common for PCOSers to have clotting or immune issues that can block proper implantation. Dr. B is good for that. when i had my first few appts with him in 2009 they were OOP and i paid something like $250-$350. if you have basic health insurance and you ask his office to file under the code for PCOS and NOT under infertility, you should be able to get a lot of things covered even if you aren't covered at all for infertility. it totally works!! good luck!
