Las Vegas
Can anyone recommend good restaurants in Las Vegas (but also ones that aren't super expensive). Also, what are some fun things to do besides just gambling? Thanks!

Re: Las Vegas
I would love to know about restaurants as well since we're going next month!
Free things to do that are fun:
Fountain show at Bellagio Lion Habitat at MGM grand Sirens of TI show at Treasure Island (a little cheesey but free) Dolphins and white tigers at Mirage Fremont St. Experience (you have to take a cab to downtown LV)
Just walking in and out of every hotel is fun and takes a lot of time. There's also the gondola's at the Venetian and the roller coaster at NY NY. Going to the top of the Statosphere is cool too! Plus they have rides up there! You can also go to the top of the Eiffel Tower at the Paris hotel.

Re: Las Vegas
oh yea, can you walk from hotel to hotel? Or is a rental car necessary for January (I know the weather is kind of cold there then too). Thanks!

You don't need a car at all. You can walk from hotel to hotel. There is a shuttle that runs between a few of them and there's always a taxi if you need to get someplace quicker then that.

Re: Las Vegas
For a restaurant, Mon Ami Gabi at Paris is awesome. You have an awesome view of the fountains at the Bellagio while you eat.
You could also go see the Red Rocks, which is pretty cool.
You definately don't need a car to go from hotel to hotel. They're all on top of each other. We stayed at Paris, which is in the direct center, and walked left all the way down to Mandalay Bay and back up to Paris one day, and the next day went right all the way down to Treasure Island and back up the other way. You'd probably need a cab to get to the Stratosphere hotel though, since it's a little away.
The only thing you really can't walk to is the famous Welcome to Las Vegas Sign, which I was a little disappointed about. I always thought it was right in front of the hotels, but its not.

Re: Las Vegas
One of my favorite restaurants is Margaritaville which is attached to the Flamingo. Lots of fun and good food!

Re: Las Vegas
If you are doing Fremont Street, you do not need to cab it there. You can take the bus (Deuce) or the city bus (RTV Transit) which runs up and down the Strip at pretty much all hours of the day and night. If you do the Deuce, you can just get a 24 hr pass for a low price ($ 7 I think). Its only about a 15-25 min ride.
