Travel Insurance

I want to purchase travel insurance for our summer vacation. Any recommendations for the best companies to use, or for what I should look to be included? TIA!

Re: Travel Insurance

I've used Travel Guard for the past few vacations. I haven't had to use the insurance but their rates are reasonable and their customer service is helpful.

Re: Travel Insurance

I had TravelGuard when I was planning a cruise and needed to use it; we weren't able to cruise because of illness. It occurred the night we were supposed to leave. It was so sudden that we had to unpack our bags. It was pretty depressing to unpack clean clothes!

I had all of my money back within three weeks. My mom, who was traveling with us - different cabin but same reservation - got hers back as well.

I can't comment on what you should look for in a policy because I never actually did any research on companies, so I'm not sure what's out there. The policy was included with the cruise. (I had cruised before and paid extra for the insurance, but even then I never did much research.)

Since the insurance was included, I literally got every penny I shelled out back and we sailed three months later when everything was under control. So I can't complain.Chat Icon

If you're travelling out of the country, check to make sure you have enough medical evacuation coverage - especially if you are on a cruise ship.

Depending on your amount of coverage they could bring you back to a US hospital and not have you stuck at a foreign hospital.

Re: Travel Insurance

TravelGuard and Access America offer insurance products that I have used in the past. Both are reputable and I've had no issues with them.
