My Updated Intro because we are TTC again...and again...

For those that don’t know my story, DH and I started our IF journey in October of ’07 when I was 36 and DH was 40). When we began I had oxford with a lifetime max of 10K. We did three IUIs with no success. February of ’08 I switched to DH’s insurance (NYSHIP) with a lifetime max of 50K and we did our first IVF – BFN. We did another IVF cycle in September of ’08 (with lots of incomplete cycles thrown in between) this resulted in a chemical/ectopic and I was given mexotetrate shot. This devastated me and had myself a little mini-melt down (you can look at my incomplete blog if it want the details). We then decided that since I had an egg quality issue and I was a poor stim responder we would try PGS. We combined eggs from two cycles to have enough to send out for testing. My ET was on Valentine’s Day 2009 and resulted in DS who was born October 13, 2009. When DS turned 6 months we went back to RE to try again (because according to my OB “You don’t want to have a baby when you’re 40 do you?”). Once again we batched two cycles and did PGS. We transferred three beautiful embies and got a BFN. I attempted three more IVF cycles but they have all been cancelled due to poor response. DS is now nearly 18 months old and we have enough insurance money for about two more IVF cycles but no cash for PGS. We have a go ahead from our RE to transfer whatever fertilize (be it two or eight). When the money is done, so are we. AF just got here and tonight I start my standard 450 follistim/2 vials menopur. The biggest thing I have heard from family and friends is “Don’t be greedy…there’s nothing wrong with one.” Even though I know they don’t mean it that way, I can’t even begin to tell you how hurtful it is. No, there’s nothing wrong with one…unless you WANT another that is. As always, even though I am a “veteran” I lean on you girls for support. Here’s hoping for all of our BFPs and future healthy happy babies.

I totally understand the desire for a 2nd child. It is no less than wanting a first. I actually think it's greater! So best fo luck to you on the next leg of your journey!!!!

I am right there with you (although we just started to try for #2). We have done one failed FET using out last 2 frosties. We cant afford IVF, so we are doing IUI with injectables in the meantime.

Good luck! Are you going to the GTG in April? I think I am going and would love to see you.

"Greedy"?! Absolutely NOT!! That's a terrible, terrible thing to imply, let alone SAY. Sorry people are saying those things to you. I wish you the BEST of luck as you go forward!!!

Good luck. I think you have a great chance for success. I completely understand where you are coming from. When we experienced secondary infertility, I experienced a ton of different emotions - the worst being that I felt horrible not being able to provide a sibling for my son. However, when I got pregnant, I felt incredibly guilty that he would no longer get all the attention! In the long run I think we all appreciate how lucky we are that we are able to have one child, but people tend to make you feel guilty for being upset at the thought that you might not be able to have another. You have every right to your emotions and no one should take that away from you.

Good luck dawn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the greedy comments are indeed hurtful u and i have spoke about that in the past but the heartbreaks of bfn month after month and the desire to have another child is just as strong as it was when trying for #1.

People really need to keep their "greedy" comments to themselves I have heard comments from people as well- not about being greedy but about my age. I'm 26 and started the IF path when I was 25. I heard comments like...... "why worry about this now, you're so young..." etc. but regardless of how many children you have already or how old you are, if having a baby is important to you, that's all that matters.

You are NOT greedy. I am in a similar situation. Have a son who is 2 and a half. We are starting our 2nd IVF this month (I waited a while).
