Dental Work?- UPDATE
So, I just got back from the dentist and it turms out I need TWO root canals. Do you think it is ok to have novacaine? Has anyone encoutnered this and spoken to their dr. about it? I am about halfway through 3rd tri. The whole idea of it makes me nervous, but I am also in a lot of pain.
I have a call into the dr. and the dentist thinks it is fine.
TIA!
Update: My dentist's office called me (without me asking) to ask for my OB's number so they can call her run through everything they are planning on using to make sure it is ok. This made me feel so much better about it all!

Re: Dental Work?
Yes, they have a special novocaine they have for pregnant women. I had a tooth removed because of spontaneous root fracture while pregnant with DD and it went just fine.

Re: Dental Work?
thanks. Did you have to specifically request the special novocaine from the dentist, or did they just use it because they knew you were pregnant?

Re: Dental Work?
They have a special pain reliever for pregnant woman, but it's not novacaine. I needed dental work several times this pregnancy.
I will warn you though that unfortunately the stuff doesn't work as well as novacaine. I still felt what they were doing. Obviously not as bad if I had nothing but it's not as good at numbing like novacaine is.
