Creaky wood floors

Any fixes besides a rug?

We had floors put in part of the house-- but where there was original wood, it's very creaky. I can't stand it and makes a lot of noise when DD is sleeping, etc.

Re: Creaky wood floors

You can try and put some nails or screws into the floor where its squeaking. The cause of this is because the floor has seperated from the joist. If the squeak is in a place where you can see the screw or nail, you might want to try and put down some talcum powder. It gets in the cracks between the floor boards and might help a bit.

My husband and i did this to our bedroom fllor...it squeaked something bad, but we also put down wall to wall carpeting so we didnt care if there were screws or nails in the floor

Yes we did the same thing, thankfully we were able to do it from the basement up because we have exposed wood floors.

I actually heard you can put baby powder into grooves and that will help

Re: Creaky wood floors

will have to try some baby powder-- too bad I was already at CVS this am and I don't have any in the house!

Nails are not an option since our floors are exposed.
