what plants survive if you put out now?

I just want to get two little plants to put in the front of my house in planters because I am getting ansy and cannot wait until mid-May

What if anything would survive right now? Would those plants that look like cabbage be ok?

cabbage plants yes they are cold hardy, tulips, daffodils, etc. But you need to soften them which is put them out during the day and put them in at night for at least a week (some plants need two weeks) ONLY if they have been indoors only. If you go to a greenhouse or home depot and buy it from the outside areas then you just plop it outside.

i planted pansies last week and they seem ok still. i usually plant them around now (b/c i like some flowers before DS b-day party so i know what week i do it!) and they always last all of spring.

pansies and primroses are cold weather friendly.
Water in the morning because it still gets too cold at night.

I would suggest planting either pansies and/or ranunculus. Both are colorful and withstand the cold early spring temperatures.
