Got my pre-authorization # for my pregnancy from my insurance company
I had NO idea we even had to do this, so I figured I'd post this so that some others can get a heads up and call their insurance company to see if it's necessary.
I have United Healthcare... Blue Cross for hospital. Anyway, I called yesterday asking about my husband's upcoming clavicle surgery and just happened to ask about my labor and delivery coverage. Turns out that I had to give them my EDD and get an Authorization Number for my pregnancy! Who knew?? They give all the instructions and what you're entitled to. I was happy to find out there's no co-pay or deductible with my insurance company. Thank GOD!
Just thought I'd share... I'm in my 5th month and apparently this is about the time that we would have to do this.

My dr's office actually set this up for me right at the beginning of pregnancy, otherwise I would have had no clue. Never thought to post about it here though...thanks for sharing! :)

I'm 38w and just did this 2 weeks ago, you have to let them know in advance but you can let them know once u hit the 8 month mark. They will also send u a letter confirming you've been approved for X number of days in the hospital.

Mine too! I got it in the mail at like 8 weeks...didn't even know about it!
