Infertility testing not cover so upset
I went and made my appointment with a specialist which I was really looking forward to getting some answers. I just called my insurance and they said they DONT COVER ANYTHING. Not even a office visit, SA, or testing. I am so bummed. I cant afford to not have insurance for this. I guess I will have to pray for a miracle.

Re: Infertility testing not cover so upset
You might be able to go to your gyn. to get some testing referrals. I was able to do some things through mine to "get around" it because they are coded differently. It's difficult to pay OOP for everything, but there are financing options. Good luck
We have done everything OOP too so I completely understand.

Re: Infertility testing not cover so upset
A friend told me that this is not legal in nys so i called again and they told me everything is covered up to the diagnosis of infertility. Which is a good thing to know. Here is the site of what your insurance must cover by law.http://www.fertilitylifelines.com/payingfortreatment/state-mandatedinsurancelist.jsp#NewYork

Thank you SO much for posting this! I posted several days ago about my insurance not paying for any of the testing I had done and we had to pay close to $2000 OOP! I am going to contact my insurance company again!

Re: Infertility testing not cover so upset
do you know what issue you have at this point? i was able to get most things covered by asking the RE to file under the code for PCOS and not under infertility. it worked so well that even after i switched insurance to one that had IF coverage, they still filed it that way and it didn't eat up any of my $30k lifetime infertility limit, so i had all of that available for IVF (although we did not do any IUIs which i think would have come from the infertility lifetime limit). good luck!!

Ughh, they won't cover it We have Anthem BCBS, which is based in St. Louis (DH's company is based there) so NYS law doesn't apply, even though the testing took place here grrrrrrrr. Missouri has no such law.
ETA: we just got another bill today, so it was more than 2k

If you firm has workers in a state other than NY they can use that to get out of the mandatory coverage.
Always best to call insurance company before going in so there are no surprise bills that follow.
