Went to register today...still not sure on a few items, some help please!

I think we did pretty good registering today (went with my mom and MIL)...it was 3 hours of figuring out what the heck everything was. There are still a few things I didn't put on my registry that I'd like to hear what everyone else is using as far a brand, opinions, etc.

- Breast Pump

- Diaper Pail

- Convertible Car Seat (I already reg for the infant car seat but wanted to reg for the next stage as well)

- Full size stroller (got the frame for the infant car seat but again wanted to reg for the next stage as well)

- High Chair

- Play Yard/Pack & Play (I reg for one but am not too sure about it)

THANK YOU!!!!

If you would like to see my registry to look at those items I can send you my information.

I didn't register for a breast pump. I think i'm going to rent one from the hospital. I heard those ones are made better.

Here is my "BTDT" advice Chat Icon
- Breast Pump
I have the Medela Pump In Style, but it is from when DS was born (almost 3 years ago). I would suggest holding off on registering for a pump. They are expensive and non refundable, so if for some reason BFing doesn't work out you'd be out all that money

- Diaper Pail
I used the Graco one with DS. But to be honest, they all gross me out. They "hold" so many diapers you'd wait a week to empty it. And once you open that container it is disgusting.

I take out my kitchen garbage daily anyway. So I threw out the gross diaper pail and throw the diapers in the regular kitchen garbage.

- Convertible Car Seat (I already reg for the infant car seat but wanted to reg for the next stage as well)
Love my Britax Roundabout

- Full size stroller (got the frame for the infant car seat but again wanted to reg for the next stage as well)
Love my Peg Perego Aria. It is only 7lbs, has snack tray and cupholders for LO and a parent cupholder. Not the greatest steering, but after 3 years I still love it.

- High Chair
I didn't bother with a high chair, and won't this time either. I used the Bumbo when DS started solids. And once he got decent with sitting up (6 months) I used the Fisher Price Booster seat. They are only like $30 and DS used it from 6 months until we recently retired it (a little after his 2nd birthday)

- Play Yard/Pack & Play (I reg for one but am not too sure about it)
I have a very basic Graco PNP, no changing station attached. Just a bassinet. Did the job. Will use it again. But this time I also got the FP Newborn Sleep N Play. I love how little it is and how it just folds up for on the go

Hope this helped!

My best advice is if you have a 2 story house get a pack n play that has a changer attached to it. It is the only place I change her when we are on the 1st floor

As for a stroller we love the city mini

A highchair was important b/c we have a big breakfast bar/ island and I wanted something that was counter height

As another BTDT I agree with all of this!

Especially the breast pump, I know more than a few people who got them as gifts only to not be able to use them for various reasons.

I'm seconding the Britax car seats! I have the Marathon and have been very happy with it.

We have the Fisher Price Space saver high chair. It attaches to a regular chair and stores away easily when we need it to be.

I looked into ALL the diaper pails..after reading a ton of reviews on Amazon.com, I chose the Diaper Genie II Elite.

Thank you so much for your hefty reply...that is actually excellent advice about the breast pump.

Great advice about the changer, I can imagine it being a bit annoying every single time taking her upstairs to her room.

I feel the same way about the highchair, that's where we eat most of the time and would be the most convenient to feed her there as well.

Re: Went to register today...still not sure on a few items, some help please!

Not a BTDT, but here's what we registered for/plan to do:

- Breast Pump
I'm not registering for one. I want to establish breastfeeding first without one and if it goes well for a few weeks I'll get one (hopefully my insurance will cover one!).

- Diaper Pail
After reading Baby Bargains I decided on the Diaper Genie II (not the elite one).

- Convertible Car Seat (I already reg for the infant car seat but wanted to reg for the next stage as well)
We registered for the Safety 1st Complete Air 65 Convertible Car Seat. Britax seems to be the most popular (and pricey), but according to Baby Bargains the only issue with the one we registered for is it's bigger and might not work in all vehicles. DH's car has a ton of room in the back seat and I have a truck, so I don't anticipate an issue for us. The Britax harness needs to be rethreaded when you need to change the height on it according to Baby Bargains, where this one does not. That and the fact that it was like $100 cheaper were the deciding factors for me.

- Full size stroller (got the frame for the infant car seat but again wanted to reg for the next stage as well)
I was going to get the City Mini, but we ended up with the Chicco Cortina travel system. I literally went to BRU and played with these two strollers three different times. My best advice would be to go there and play around with them. We literally put weight in them and pushed them around, making turns and what not, folded them and lifted them up onto a shelf as if we were putting them in the trunk, etc.

- High Chair
We registered for the Graco Blosson 4 in 1. We liked that it will grow with the baby.

- Play Yard/Pack & Play (I reg for one but am not too sure about it)
I got a Baby Trend one. I wanted one with a bassinet feature because that's probably what the baby will sleep in in our room at first.

Re: Went to register today...still not sure on a few items, some help please!

Breast Pump- I bought mine from a resale shop and got all new acessories. I did end up renting one from the hospital so I say wait and rent one befor eyou buy.

- Diaper Pail- I CAN NOT LIVE without this. We ran out of refills for the 1st time last week and I will NEVER do that again. LOVE LOVE LOVE the diaper genie 2 elite!!!!!

- Convertible Car Seat (I already reg for the infant car seat but wanted to reg for the next stage as well)- We waited and she didn't go into it until about 10 months. I'm glad we waited and suggest the same. So much can change.

- Full size stroller (got the frame for the infant car seat but again wanted to reg for the next stage as well) We got a Chicco travel system, but I say yes. I loved having a stroller so I didn't have to carry the car seat around myself.

- High Chair- nope, we waited and it was an Easter present. You don't even need it until 5-6months, IMHO and buy that time the one we wanted went on sale with free shipping on Amazon.com

- Play Yard/Pack & Play (I reg for one but am not too sure about it)- we never got a pack n play, but we did get the baby einstein jumper and under the sea play mat. I'm glad we got it at the shower and suggest the same.

Re: Went to register today...still not sure on a few items, some help please!

- Breast Pump- never bought one, didn't end up BF'ing so it wasn't an issue.

- Diaper Pail- never had one, never felt we needed one.

- Convertible Car Seat (I already reg for the infant car seat but wanted to reg for the next stage as well)- We have the Evenflo Triumph and LOVE it, I've bought 3 total for me, DH, and mom's cars!!

- Full size stroller (got the frame for the infant car seat but again wanted to reg for the next stage as well)- MACLAREN!! I have the Techno XLR and out of all the strollers I own (which is a lot) it's the only one DS still really fits in (at 2.5). It's light, easy to travel with, easy to push, etc.. Worth every penny. If I had to do it again I think I would just get this stroller and the snap and go.

- High Chair- Hated my Eddie Bauer wooden one. I'm looking into other ones now but don't have any to reccomend.

- Play Yard/Pack & Play (I reg for one but am not too sure about it)- We have the Graco Deco one and we used it a lot when DS was little. It worked great as a catch all for the first floor and a changing table, we also brought it to the beach last year. It really comes in handy!!

Breast Pump- I registered for the Medela In Style, but after reading the comments on here about holding off and establishing breastfeeding first I think it's good advice. But that would be the one I would get.

Diaper Pail- Safety First Easy Saver Diaper Pail. We wanted something simple. l

- Convertible Car Seat- Graco Nautilus

- Full size stroller-Graco Metrolite

- High Chair-Graco Duo Diner High Chair

- Play Yard/Pack & Play-Just the regular Pack N Play Play yard. We're just planning on using it when we travel.
