Re: Mashed Potatoes
I use Yukon Gold or Red skin potatoes with heavy cream or half & half, butter, salt and pepper. Sometimes I will throw in some garlic while boiling the potatoes, sometimes roasted garlic right before mashing.

Re: Mashed Potatoes
I usually make them "dirty" - with the skins on - because I hate peeling them.
DH does the mashing..milk, sour cream and a bit of butter, S&P.

Re: Mashed Potatoes
I always use red potatoes and leave the skins on. I boil them until soft and then put them in a mixing bowl, add a little butter and milk and mix them with a mixer until they look like mashed potatoes. Occassionaly if i have some whipping cream on hand, i will use some whipping cream intead of milk. Add a little black pepper, some sour cream and serve. DH loves them and so do my IL's.

Re: Mashed Potatoes
Reds or Yukons. I peel yukons and leave the skin on the reds. Depends on my mood.
Boil and drain, add butter and warm milk, S&P...mash with a manual masher. Add more butter and warm milk and whip with an electric mixer..adjust salt and pepper and add some garlic powder.

Re: Mashed Potatoes
A whole head of roasted garlic, butter and milk (and S&P).
Not a huge potatoe person so they have to taste like something.
Put the potatoes in COLD water b/c they heat evenly. Try to cut them about the same size.

Re: Mashed Potatoes
I like Yukon Gold's mashed with a head of roasted garlic, lots of cream or milk, a stick of butter, tons of sea salt and fresh black pepper, and sour cream. Cream cheese in them is also good.
