Transverse baby?
Any hints or old wives tales for getting a breech/transverse baby to turn? Went to the doctor on Friday and at 33 weeks, this baby is measuring big, and is very cozy in there. The doctor said it looks like he's laying in a hammock. Short of hanging off the monkey bars upside down, any ideas on silly things I can try that might make this kid turn?

Re: Transverse baby?
Check out this link: transverse lie
My baby was transverse at 30 weeks and I tried their suggesting of knees on the couch, hands on the floor for 30 seconds 3 times per day. She was head down at 34 weeks....I can't say it was because of spinning babies, but I think it's worth a try.

Re: Transverse baby?
umm...at the risk of sounding like a loon, I am a big proponent of Dr. Weil (alternative method guru, but still in touch with reality)
he has written many books....I always remember this and thought it was pretty cool:
From "Birth Made Easy" by Andrew Weil, M.D. , New Age Journal, June 1995..........Dr. Andrew Weil describes how his wife Sabine made telepathic contact with her baby. With the help of guided imagery and hypnotherapy, she apparently won her baby's cooperation for an easy delivery.
A second, more dramatic experience came three weeks before the due date. The baby was in a posterior position, which can cause long and painful labor. Hypnotherapist Steve Gurgevich led a session with Sabine. Dr. Weil recounts:
Steve did an hour-long session with her... encouraging Sabine to talk with the baby, asking her to turn around before the beginning of labor and help make the labor quick. When he brought Sabine out of her reverie, she looked supremely relaxed. After Steve left, Sabine and I went to the kitchen to start dinner. Suddenly, she clutched her belly and bent over.
"What is it?" I asked.
"I think the baby's turning," she said, amazed.
It happened that our midwife was coming for dinner that night. She examined Sabine and reported that the baby was now in an anterior presentation, having turned within twenty minutes of being asked to do so. The baby came right on her due date. Labor lasted a mere two hours and six minutes, which was, if anything, a little too brief in that we barely had time to prepare.

Re: Transverse baby?
My son was transverse. I did some crazy stuff
I played music down by my hooha, shined a flashlight to help him turn towards the light.....did some yoga and acupuncture was next. A friend sent me a link to all this stuff.
He did turn so I'm not really sure what worked and let me tell you, when he flipped I felt it......wowza.

DS was also transverse at 33 weeks. By 36, he was head down Still plenty of time to turn.

Re: Transverse baby?
My son was transverse and I didn't even know that there were things you could do to encourage them turning. He did turn to head down position on his own, I don't remember the week though.

Re: Transverse baby?
Thanks everyone! Gonna be trying some of those techniques just in case. The doctor says he's measuring on the really big side, so he's gotta turn soon or he won't have much more room. Like these suggestions way more than DH's suggestion of using the flashlight to "show him the path out." Literally.
