Fairway
Anyone shop here? Dh & I went to the one in Red Hook yesterday and got some cool stuff, but I was overwhelmed and didn't get too much. I liked the prices and HUGE variety- especially for DD who has a soy/dairy allergy.
What can you reccomend we get next time?

LOVE Fairway.
it IS a bit intimidating at first but it's one of my favorite places to shop.
their baguette is awesome!. and the cheese section is incredible (which much better prices than whole foods) as is the sausage and olive section. and of course the organic fruits and veggies.
I love the fish monger and the butcher too.
just don't go on the weekends. I feel like all of lower Brooklyn descends on that place. we usually go after work closer to closing time. it's much easier to process then.
ETA: I especially love from the butcher their pork loin and the sausage selection. great great stuff.
and their mussels cook up brilliantly.

Thanks! I was in AWE of the cheese section and Olive bar. We don't eat red meat or pork, but got some chicken from the butcher...excited to try it.

Meats, and fish/seafood-- great variety and very fresh.
Like others said-- they have a variety of cheeses that probably surpasses Whole Foods, but at better prices.
I'm talking about the Plainview location. Never went to any other ones.

We go to the Plainview one and love it too. I agree with above. I go there for organic fruits and veggies, chicken, cheese, and their salad bar tzaziki sauce!!! i love that!

I love fairway! My favorite supermarket on LI. I buy anything there. I like their produce and their meats are excellent.

Fairway is my favorite store
Whenever i host any dinner parties or events at my house this is where i go.
I don't cook during the week so i don't food shop regularly at any store but i find things there that i can't get anywhere else
They people who work there are amazing, i had a girl who worked there offer to walk around with me and help me get everything on my list! She was so sweet
Even the girls at the register know how to pack your bags
Everything about that store is amazing!
the coffee section is wonderful! Barrels of beans
The cheese counter is amazing, if you are looking for something specific, they will let you try anything in order to find what you need.
They are the only place i have found that imports Buffalo Mozzarella direct from Italy

LOVE Fairway. We go to the one in Plainview. but agree that the weekend is crazy there!
I love the deli...the prices are the best around. Produce is good and cheap. The cheese counter is awesome. they have a good selection of British and Irish foods.
Their pomodoro sauce is delicious if you are not a homemade sauce maker.
