Re: dexamethazone (sp)
The biggest side effect that I noticed, after I was on it for awhile, was dry mouth. I found myself drinking a lot more water, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
As far as weight gain, I never know what to attribute that to...mostly likely, my comfort eating and lack of exercise! I'm on a break from dex now for a couple of weeks, so we'll see what happens.

Re: dexamethazone (sp)
make sure to take it in the morning. the only side effect i had was poor sleep and lack of dreaming. i didnt realize until after i was on it for awhile that it was due to taking it at night. when i switched to taking it in the morning it was much better. otherwise theres really not too much to worry about on dex. its like a baby steroid.

do you have a history of high LH? ( RE said this is the main reason for taking it)

Re: dexamethazone (sp)
No real history of high LH, but it does fluctuate a little. Truth be told, I was never quite 100% sure about why I was on it. I know he told me initially, but I have a habit of forgetting once he leaves the room!
It's funny about what Flowerwife said about the dreaming. I always take dex with dinner. After not taking it for the past two nights, I have had more vivid dreams than I remember having in ages! I have always woken up during the night, so I didn't really notice a difference there, but since stopping it, I have felt like I was in a deeper sleep. I didn't wake up when DH came to bed late last night, and I ALWAYS wake up!

Re: dexamethazone (sp)
No weight gain at all! In fact, I always have loads of energy when on it so I probably lost weight if anything. I take it anytime of the day and it doesn't affect my sleep but I make sure to take it with food. I am on .75 mg 1x a day

ITA! I'm on .75 mg once a day and take it in the morning. Last cycle I took it with dinner and could never fall asleep. I'd be up for hours!! I switched to mornings this cycle and it's 100% better

Re: dexamethazone (sp)
I have not noticed any side effects.. no sleep issues.. no weight gain (Well .. not from the dex anyway)
It's a pretty common drug, especially for those seeing Dr.B.

Re: dexamethazone (sp)
i had chronically high LH which is why i was on it. i never gained weight from dex. i was on .75 at the beginning, then 1.5, then back to .75 later on. don't even think twice about being on it, theres absolutely nothing to worry about.

I was wondering about this too! I start this next week due to chronic high LH. I am glad to have the tips to start it in the morning :) and that there's no weight gain!

Would you mind if I asked why a few of you are taking dexamethasone? Has anyone been diagnosed with late onset congenital adrenal hyperplasia? It is a disorder that can cause infertility, however once dex is started women report getting pregnant within months (granted, this is if they have LOCAH). I have the disorder and have been taking this med for years. I take .125 mg a day. Did the doctor say anything about it having negative side effects for an embryo/fetus, if you do conceive? I'm curious for myself.
well i hope there are no side effects. My RE had me start dex from cd4 and am still on them now that i am almost 6 weeks pregnant. He is giong to take me off of them after my 1st sono this Friday, but I doubt he would keep me on them this long if there were known side effects to the baby.

i was on it for many cycles and for the first few weeks of this pregnancy. i dont think it has any negative effects on the baby. the only side effect it had for me was if i took it at night i had trouble sleeping. i was on .75mg and 1.5mg during different cycles. i was on it to lower high LH.

Re: dexamethazone (sp)
It is used as part of the standard protocol for IVF patients at my center. I am still on it and will be on it until approximately 10 weeks into my pregnancy. It is used to aid in implantation and to suppress posible immune issues.
