Questions about monitoring visits...
Just started my first protocol for IUI on Friday.
CD3-CD7 Femara and Prednisone
CD8-10 Prednisone (and at some point Intralipids infusion)
CD10 Office Visit --- *Is this when they will start measuring my follicles?
(The other meds in my Kraupner's delivery are the Ovidrel trigger shot, Lovenox injections and progesterone suppositories which I believe they said I will start after the IUI.)
I think I've read on here recently that Femara can lead to delayed ovulation? I usually ovulate around CD19. *I'd been thinking that when I was medicated, I'd ovulate closer to CD14, though...??
*I'm wondering how many times I'll need to go into the office after CD10 for monitoring of follicles?
Things are high pressure at work now so it's not a good time to be missing a lot.
**Can you share your experiences of how often your monitoring visits were?**
*Also, after the IUI, are there any more visits during the 2ww? (I'm assuming not but wanted to double-check).
Thank you!
(P.S. Dr. B had initially wanted to start right in w/IvIg and IVF but I didn't feel comfortable jumping right in to that since I had never done ANY treatment before. So we are starting with an IUI protocol.)

Re: Questions about monitoring visits...
this cycle i did timed intercourse not IUI, but i did femara.
femara cd4-8
cd11 was supposed to go for monitoring but couldnt make it so dr. b jsut told me to bd in case i O early.
cd13- monitoring visit - bloodwork and sono. My follies weren't mature enough yet.
cd16 - monitoring visit - bloodwork and sono. 3 Follies were mature. Triggered with ovidrel that evening.
i didn't have to go back after ovulating but some people do go 7dpo for bloodwork to check progesterone. He had me to start progesterone supps 1 week after trigger anyway.
then you will go for beta 2 weeks post trigger.
good luck!!!

Re: Questions about monitoring visits...
the first appointment after you stop femara will be when they start measuring your follies. the amount of times you go back after that depends on your response to meds. you cant really judge when you would ovulate on meds if you havent done them before. it also doesnt matter cause once the follies are mature you would likely do a trigger shot to guarantee ovulation and appropriately time the IUIs. if you already know you will be on progesterone post IUI, you wont have to go back again after that until the beta (which you can do at a lab if its more convenient).
i know its hard to not plan, but its almost impossible to plan out a medicated cycle. you just have to take each day and each appointment as they come. good luck!
