The Massapequas
I see that there is Massapequa, North Massapequa, East Massapequa and Massapequa Park...i know NOTHING about any of them!
Is there one that is better than the rest, one to avoid?
I see that some N. Massapequa schools are in Farmingdale and plainedge school districts...how are those (and compared to Massapequa schools)
I'd prefer to stay as north as possible...but obviously good schools trump that!!
Thanks so much!

Re: The Massapequas
Massapequa is known as a nice area. The Massapequa School District is highly-rated. Most of Massapequa/Massapequa Park goes there. Parts of North Massapequa (and Mass Park?) are zoned for Farmingdale, which isn't as high up on the ratings list as Massapequa, but is a fine district. Houses zoned for F-dale tend to be a lot cheaper because it doesn't have the cachet of the Massapequa School District.
"East Massapequa" is a different story. It's pretty much a part of Amityville. It's zoned for Amityville schools and the feel of the neighborhood is closer to Amityville than it is to the other Massapequas.

Plainedge is an excellent school district. I would rank it at the top of the all Massapequa SDs.

Re: The Massapequas
All the Massapequas are nice with good schools.
Massapequa Park is part of Town of Oyster Bay township vs the others are part of Hempstead township.

This is what I always heard and this is why it was the school district we wanted in massapequa (and where we bought and live).

Re: The Massapequas
good to know about plainedge...bec I hear such good things about massepequa but I am still not sure I want south shore..I feel like if plainedge is a good SD then I have the best of both worlds...middle of long island (not really north or south shore) and a good neighborhood!
hmm...more to think about!

the taxes to tend to be a little higher in Plainedge... you should know that... not crazy, but we looked in Seaford, Wantagh, Bellmore and other parts of Massapequa and Plainedge was higher... but we still opted to buy there! Lots of nice houses for sale by me now!
