Feeling overwhelmed...

We expected the prenatal bills to start coming in but holy Chat Icon. $370.00 in blood work, 3 sonos at $275 each and the level II coming up in a few weeks will be $250+ and we are paying it until we reach the $3,000 deductible. We can deal but it's just very overwhelming and this pregnancy is a little complicated so they have had to do a little more tests and sonos than when i was pg with DD, we weren't expecting that.

Re: Feeling overwhelmed...

omg,it's so sad how EXPENSIVE every single thing is. It REALLY adds up. I'm afraid to get our hospital bill after baby is born. Even though we have really good insurance, I know we're still probably gonna get stuck with quite a bill!!Chat Icon

Re: Feeling overwhelmed...

When does your treatment year start / end? We have a $3k deductible too, and it reset on December 1 which was annoying being due in early January. But my bill from the hospital was $2800, so we've totally met our deductible for the year just from my hospital bill for giving birth. I can't believe prenatal vitamins are $80 before you meet the deductible!!! I got samples from my OB until we did. But now, we get "free" medical treatment the whole rest of the year lol. At least that's how I'm looking at it.

If you have an FSA account, wouldn't all these bills come out of that until you hit the $3k? That's how it worked for us.

I was annoyed when I got a $32 bill from my strep B test. Like that was "elective" or something??? It's weird what insurance denies. But I have a rash I got about 2 weeks PP that has been worrying me and now I don't feel bad going to a dermatologist because I figure... heck, it's "free" now.

Babies are so expensive. $25 a week on formula... $0.20 a diaper... $0.03 a wipe... it's pretty amazing when you think about it and add it up.

At least you'll hit the $3k soon and then it'll be done with. Whether you were going to meet the deductible in advance or with the birth, you'd meet it, but it is annoying. I know DH had the option of the $3k deductible or a $500 deductible, but then the insurance was way more every month so we figured out the $3k was more worth while for us (especially this year). Try not to think of them as bills... think of them as credits towards your "free" services... sigh.

Re: Feeling overwhelmed...

Yikes that's terrible!!

I was nervous because I thought we would have to shell out a lot for the hospital stay. I just called the other day and it's going to be $300.

We keep getting bills for every single visit with a test or a sono and each one is $15, but we get at least 4 a week, for months on end now. We've been complaining about them... but now after reading this I think we might have to stop!!

Prenatals are never covered on my plan because they fall under the category of vitamins... so that's always out of pocket... but my dr have been great and just handing me boxes under the table!!

hopefully the 3g hits soon and you won't have to see all these bills anymore.
