Had my apt this morning to check for follies...good news and bad news and a WWYD

Well, the good news is I have three, one is 19.5, the other two are 10. Sounds good right, well the bad news is they are all on the left side and my left tube is blocked Chat Icon . The questions is would you still go through the the IUI this month nothing that's its highly likely you'll get a BFN. I was so upset when I left the DR office so I called DH and he response was well just have to see what happens next month...I want to choke the living sh$t out of him...

I am so sorry you have to deal with this. What did your DR recommend? I am not to familiar with blockage, but it is completely blocked or partially? I think there is a lot consider, do you have only a set amount of IUI's covered by insurance. If so, then I would say skip the IUI, if not then go for it, you never know. Chat Icon

Unfortunately it is completely blocked. There is the smallest chance they can go to the right side, but its highly unlikely. With my insurance, I have unlimited IUI's. I was leaning towards doing it, but even though I'll be prepared for that BFN, its still going to hurt. Chat Icon

I don't post very much on here but this is what happen to me last month. My right tube is blocked and my larger follies have been growing on the right side every month. This month my RE did the IUI saying that there is a chance that the other tube could pick up the egg.

I am out this month and went in yesterday for my day 3 blood and sono and now they see cysted on both ovaries so they did not have me start clomid this cycle. They want me to come in, in a week to see if they are still there. I am very upset and frustrated.

if you have unlimited IUIs covered, and its no issue having the IUI - why not just do it? you already know the chances are slim, but if there is ANY chance at least you know that you did what you could. good luck!!

I can definitely relate to you and your desire to go through with the IUI. I feel like if I am not being proactive about IF then how can it possibly happen. I have learned with all of this, that sometimes a "Hope for the best, prepare for the worst" attitude gets me through each failed month. Some people say it is being pessimistic, but I disagree. I strongly believe that if something works for you and makes all of this a little easier, why consider it 'wrong'? Chat Icon Chat Icon

Oh no! And dopey DH...that's definitely something mine would say! I say go for it....you never know - and if you have unlimited IUI's, then why not do it. You will be prepared for it to be negative and could be pleasantly surprised with the results!!

Re: Had my apt this morning to check for follies...good news and bad news and a WWYD

Are you basing your blocked tube on the die test? If you are i would still do the iui bc it may not be blocked. Do you pay out of pocket or are you covered. If you are covered I would prob just go through with it bc miracles can happen! These would all be factors for me. So sorry you are going through this. I know how stressful this isChat Icon Chat Icon

Lolitababy - the left side is completely blocked. After that dye test, I had another test done where they go in with a scope to get a better picture.

Thanks so much everyone. I'm going to do it and pray. I'm not going to get my hopes up, I know its a long shot but they say miracles can happen right...

I'm not familiar with one ovary picking up the egg from the other. How does this happen Chat Icon I'm very confused obviously need to repeat 7th grade health class. Chat Icon

If your IUIs are covered and your RE thinks there is some chance that the unblocked side can pick them up, I'd still do it. You are going into it knowing it's a slimmer chance, but if you skip it, you will always wonder if it might have worked. At least that's how I'd be. And being that your tube is completely blocked, there isn't really a chance for ectopic since the sperm can't get up that tube anyway.

I don't know much about blocked tubes, but being as you have the unlimited IUI's.....

Better to have "any" chance than no chance at all by NOT doing it...I say go for it and keep your chin up Chat Icon

I'm not sure exactly how that works either, but when I asked they said something the egg can go to the unblocked tube. As far as 7th grade health, I felt like an idiot when I first started going to the RE because I was clueless on half the stuff they were talking about Chat Icon

Gotcha. I only asked bc I showed a blockage on the dye test butnwhen they went in with a scope it wasn't. I would still have the iui. You just never know! Maybe the right tube will pick up the egg. Good luck Chat Icon Chat Icon

Im thinking that if its unlimited IUI's why not go for it?? If there is a slight chance its better than no chance?
