Re: should I be worried

nope- every belly and baby grows different. There is NO reason to worry about it. How tall are you? Check out my album - I'm 5'9 and very average size, but barely got a belly until about 26wks. If you look at my 20wk pic, I was definitley bigger than I was in the beginning, but certainly did not have a BELLY (strangers couldn't even tell i was pregnant until somewhere around the 30wk range). Yeah, I was disappointed because I LOVE pregnant bellies, but now that I'm 40 weeks I'm so thankful that I never got that big. I feel huge now, but I know that there are a lot of people much much bigger than me (because I'm tall, baby has more room to spread rather than having to push OUT). So look on the bright side - if you continue to grow at this rate, you probably won't waddle, you'll still be able to put on your own shoes & socks, squat to pick things up, etc, all till your due date! lol. I'm about the same amount of time along and I was JUST saying the same thing to DH! I have a very small bump as well! I'm 5'5" and it's my first baby, so that might have something to do with it.

Re: should I be worried

The same thing happened to me. I was worried for my baby since I didn't have a belly and hadn't gained that much weight by that point. It all turned out fine, I'm now very happy with the amount of weight I gained. And I totally agree with pp that its a good thing, and I am also tall. I feel really lucky I'm not super gigantic now because I can still move around and bend over. Enjoy it, you WILL get a belly!

You looked great throughout. I am pretty much looking like you at 20 weeks. I am 5'6". Well now that you put it that way, I guess I should be grateful. I have not gained much weight at all. Baby is growing and doing great, but thank you all for the support. Looks like I am in good company. I guess we wait to get pg for so long and then wont to look pg, not chubby.Chat Icon Chat Icon
