Do most people do IUI or BD?
I see a lot of posts on IUI but I was given the option of IUI or BD. Is everyone given the option?

Re: Do most people do IUI or BD?
i think it depends on the person's issue. I had the option and since this cycle was our first medicated cycle we decided to start with BD rather than go right to IUI.

DH's SA was fine so I was told it doesn't make a difference. This might just be my situation though based on what my RE knows about my history. We usually BD in conjunction with IUI.

I think it depends on what you have going on and how aggressive you are going to be. I was dealing with MF issues and we thought IUI would increase our chances.

I agree with everyone above. It depends on your personal issues and what you and your dr. decide is best for you. We were given the option and decided to first try a couple medicated cycles with BD first. DH had surgery in Jan for MF issues and we have to wait for his first SA in April to find out how it worked. So we decided to wait unitl then to start or not start IUI.

We B2B IUI'ed with Clomid.
I wanted to do both, but honestly was too crampy to even consider it.
It worked for us!

Re: Do most people do IUI or BD?
its a personal decision completely. we did ONLY timed BD for 6 cycles before moving on to IVF. we did get pregnant 2 of those cycles but both were chemical. for us we had the slightest of slight male factor and the rest was all me and PCOS. every cycle i asked dr. B if it was time to move to IUI but he always said it was important to do it the way you want to do it. for me IUI would've raised my chances 8% which DH and I agreed were not enough to take the fun and "natural" approach out of and make it a purely medical procedure.
im sure to a lot of people 8% is well enough to move them to IUI but for us it wasn't. ultimately IVF got me pregnant but we moved on because dr. B said it was the safest option for us since my ovaries are difficult to successfully stim without hyperstimming.

Re: Do most people do IUI or BD?
We went straight to IUI.....I didnt see the point for us to do timed BD because were BD at the correct time for over a year with no results so I felt the timed BD would be pointless.
I am having my 2nd cycle of IUI this coming week.

Re: Do most people do IUI or BD?
Thank you for all the responses. I have a choice but I see so many posts about IUI that I thought maybe I was the only one. Glad to know other people are in my situation. Is there an advantage of one over the other (BD vs. IUI)?

depends what your issue is, but IUI generally has higher success rates since it puts back only the healthier sperm a lot closer to where they need to go then when you .
