Besides Pepcid ac and Tums

What helped your heartburn? I was up all night, threw up bile/acid in the morning and am completely miserable. I tried both of these meds and neither worked (for more than a little bit anyway). Milk, juice, even water makes it worse. I need some relief before I lose it. Please help, any suggestions that are safe?

I'm taking zantac 75. It was recommended by my obgyn. I still suffer from heartburn but I think it is helping.

maybe try chewing gum. not pregnancy related but for heartburn, many swear by this and it helped me a little.

agree also with zantac.

Before getting pregnant I had bad reflux, and the list of foods to avoid is long and suprising.

Chocolate, anything with caffeine, sauce, citrus, eggs, fatty foods, mint (especially peppermint), certain cheeses...its awful, but if you cut out some of these for awhile, it may help. If you google, even more things come up...

I found that coffee and tea, even decaf, make me sooo much worse, so I know to avoid these...

Re: Besides Pepcid ac and Tums

With DS I ended up on Nexium and it helped a LOT. Pepcid and Tums did nothing. Right now I take a Pepcid every night but it's already not working that well, I think I'm going to go on the prescription Nexium again soon. Of course I haven't modified my diet yet so I probably should work on that too Chat Icon

I just read in one my books yesterday that celery is a really good go to food during pregnancy. It is a healthy snack, relieves heartburn, and has a lot of water in it (if you have trouble getting your 8 glasses per day). There are a lot more benefits, but I am too lazy to get up and look in the book, lol.
One of my friends said that she used to chew on carrots and that helped tremendously. I notice that if I lie down right after dinner, it's a lot worse.
