IUI Questions

I am starting IUI's this month. Dr.B said that I would be taking medication for 5 days? and then I come in to get checked to see when I am ovulating and then back to back IUI's. I usually get a smiley on day 14. I was wondering what my schedule would be like? What day do I go to get checked? How many days after I get checked do we do the IUI's?

Just looking for some ideas. I am so nervous to have to ask for all this time off!! It's giving me more anxiety than i need :(

Also, what is the sucess rate? We suffered 1 mc and then tried for a year after. My husband has slight MF issues, nothing serious and I don't have any known issues. Dr.B seemed sure that this might work for us...

Re: IUI Questions

I am guessing Femara is what he has you on for 5 days. After a week, you will go back for bloodwork and a sono to see how your follicles are doing. If you are ready to trigger, you will use Ovidrel (injections), and then go in for IUIs the next two days.

As far as the success rate, it's really hard to say since it varies from person to person. Typically, for 80% of people who an IUI will work for, it will work in the first 3. If your DH only has slight issues and you have none, that sounds pretty good to me...... but really I have learned to not focus too much on chances.. stats.. etc. Everyone has their own experience with these things. Hopefully your journey is a short one!

Re: IUI Questions

I'm not a patient of Dr. B, but had IUI with 50 mg Clomid which I took for 5 days (cd3-7).

Since I O early-ish and on my own, I did not have a trigger shot.

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: IUI Questions

I am doing IUIs (not with Dr B). I take clomid on day 5-9 and then go in when I get a positive OPK. My Dr doesnt do back to backs. I was able to schedule all my appts in the early am or after work hrs so I didnt really miss work.

Usually meds CD3-7 and sono to see the follies a week from when you begin the meds. The IUI schedule is determined from there. Last time, I triggered the next day and had IUI the following 2 days because my follies were at 17mm.

Thank you so much! I am so nervous! I didn't even ask what meds I would be taking! I do think I O on my own because I always get a smiley and my temp always increases. I go tomorrow afternoon for my CD3 appointment and I can ask my million questions then! I am so excited and nervous together Chat Icon Chat Icon
