Re: mohegan sun
They are very $$$$ When we go, we look for hotels outside of Mohegan! It's ridiculous what they ask for.

Re: mohegan sun
Foxwoods tends to be a lot cheaper and we like it better. I've stayed only at the MGM Grand section, and it's really nice.

Re: mohegan sun
The room rates are crazy! DH and I ended up staying in a bed and breakfast between Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun. It was much nicer!

Not everyone goes up there to gamble.

Re: mohegan sun
I've been to both Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun - I think MS is much nicer and newer. Check out hotels in Mystic CT- it's 15-20 minutes away and they have much better rates!

Re: mohegan sun
When I went years ago..we stayed at a hotel/motel like 10 minutes away..I forget which one .. maybe a holiday inn...but def more affordable than in MS itself!

Re: mohegan sun
Are you planning on gambling while you are there? If you do make sure you get their comp card. You use it with any machine you play. Based on how long you are there and how much you play you will get things comped for you when you check out. Bill everything to the room so they see how much you are spending. With this you also get on their mailing list, and you will get offers every week. One time we went there had a room for two nights only cost us $100. We don't gamble a lot either. We bring like $250 each and that's it.

They are very $$. There are other hotels around the area that have shuttles to take you there and are a lot cheaper.

There are quite a few hotels/motels in the mystic area that are pretty reasonable.

Re: mohegan sun
We went on a spur of the moment trip up last Friday night..it was 600, but we called the Hyatt Place and there "suite" 2 double beds and a pull out couch zone was 185 for the night. Its like 5 mins before Mohegan with a complimentary b-fast and shuttle to Mohegan :)
