1st Dr Appt
On Monday I have my first dr appt since finding out my bfp. I know I will have a sono to hear the baby's heartbeat but what kind of questions should I ask when we sit down with the dr? This will be the first time I am meeting him- he came highly recommended from a friend.

Re: 1st Dr Appt
Congrats!! My doctor explained everything to us and I only asked questions to clarify some things he said. Also you may want to ask what hospitals he delivers at.

Re: 1st Dr Appt
do you take any medications? like I take zyrtec or an occasional benedryl, etc - talk about what you can take.
talk about foods to avoid
ask about the different tests, when they happen and what they are for. ask about other additional testing, like the CVS/amnio
exercise
are you rh-? talk to OB about rhogam shot (some OBs don't carry it and you have to get it yourself)
you can ask about which hospital you will deliver or if there is an emergency.
OBs c/s rate

this may not be the scientific answer, but Rh is a component of your blood...for example, I'm 0+ which means my blood is positive for Rh. If you are negative, but your husband is positive, your baby may be positive, causing you body to produce antibodies for the rh after you give birth, which would be dangerous for your future children. If that is the case, your Dr. will prescibe Rhogam (a shot you get toward the end of pregnancy) to prevent your body from producing the antibodies. If you're positive than it doesnt matter. (This may not be 100% accurate, but this is how I understand it.)
I didnt even know my bloodtype before pregnancy, they will test you and let you know!

Re: 1st Dr Appt
Christina has it right. Only 15% of the population is negative (I think), so most women don't need it. I am and DH is positive, so I need it.
