Dr. Pilliterri

Hello Ladies,

I went to Dr. Pilliterri who was nice but I am still not so sure. I was told I have endometriosis and have cysts on my ovaries. I was told I will need to have a Laporoscopy and D&C done. I scheduled my surgery for 3/16/11 and was wondering if anyone else has had this done and could shed some light. Also has anyone had this done by Dr. Pilliterri at Good Samaritan?? I am really nervous...

Re: Dr. Pilliterri

I switched to Dr. P b/c I needed D&C. It was sorta an emergency and he got me in right away. I met with him on Monday and had the surgery on Wed. He came highly recommened by my friends and by Dr. B. as well.

I have had two D&Cs at Good Sam. The nurses in pre-op, OR and post-op are wonderful. I usually ask for something while I'm waiting in the OR because I'm a nervous nelly too and they always address my concerns. It's a very quick procedure so you are not under for too long. You'll have some cramping and bleeding for a couple of days.
Dr. Pilliterri also has a great rapport with the nurses there as well.

There was an anesthesiologist that I wasn't particularly fond of though but I can't remember his name off the top of my head. If I saw It, I'd recognize it.

Good Luck

Re: Dr. Pilliterri

I have had 2 laparoscopies done. The first was back in July of 2008 to remove large cysts on my right ovary and endometreosis. The 2nd was this October to remove another cyst on my right ovary.

The recovery is not that bad if you take it easy and follow the doctors instructions. I was told to "flush" out my stomach the day before the surgery to help with the gases. The first time I did not listen and the gas pains were awful. The 2nd time I listened and it was a big difference. The gases are caused by the air they pump into you to have more room and better control of the ovaries. Take the pain meds it helps make you comfortable and by day 3 you should be moving around a lot better.

Good luck and hth!

Dittos. I think he is a doctor that you either love or hate (strong personality). I have heard both. I really liked him.

Re: Dr. Pilliterri

I've had a lap and D&C by Dr. P at Good Sam. He's like a rock star at that hospital. The nurses in the pre-surgical unit were wonderful as well as the nurses in the pre-op room.

I had a wonderful talk with one of the patient advocates, Linda. (I don't know her last name). When DH went to get the car, she wheeled me out and waited with me. She said the next time she sees me, she'll be wheeling me out with a baby! Chat Icon

You're in good hands!!!
