Problem and question
My Nana was admitted into the hospital recently. I wanted to go visit her today but my mom spoke with the nurse at the hospital and she advised that because I'm pregnant that I shouldn't go. The reason being is that my nana has developed Mirsa and if caught can't be fought off easily. I feel really bad because I don't think she's going to make I and would like to see her. She's 96 yrs. old and has alzheimers so she won't know whether I was there or not. But I think I would feel horrible not saying goodbye. What would you do? Sorry so long Just very torn

Re: Problem and question
Follow the nurses advice!
Call, send something, but don't go. Say a prayer and just know she would understand.

Re: Problem and question
I am very laid dback, but MRSA i would not go near. I would try and think of somethign you enjoyed doing with your nana and honor her that way -or something she loved and have a private moment - i always think you can talk to a soul with alzehiemers her soul is already out floating around

Re: Problem and question
For now, I wouldn't go. If they said the chances of her not making it aren't likely though, I would go. It all depends on the situation. I hope she has a speedy recovery .

Re: Problem and question
first I am so sorry to hear about your grandma. .
honestly I would not go. . MRSA is very dangerous and though usually only spread by skin to skin contact it can be fatal. .
what I might suggest is for you to see if someone there can set up a webcam or something and see if you can have a chat with her, or send her a video message if you can.
If the nurse had not said not to go, I would have said go and wear a mask bc family is so important but if medical people said no, I would follow their advice. .

Re: Problem and question
I'm sorry about your grandma. MRSA is a serious thing, please do not put yourself or your LO at risk. What if you go to church and say a few prayers for your grandma?

Re: Problem and question
Thanks everyone for the well wishes. I've decided not to go Instead I'm going to meet up with my mom and talk about all the good memories we had with my nana.
