Reynold's Foil Wrap has some meals you put together and bake in the foil package - some say you can freeze.

Rachael Ray has a new show where she cooks a whole week in a day

Maybe someone can help me - foodnetwork - Robin Miller - made meals where she'd cook 2 chickens - one for roast chix on Sunday and the other she'd use for the rest of the week.

As far as burning yourself, get good oven mits that you feel comfortable using - not just the cheapo pretty ones.

Also, go to CVS and get BURN GEL or WATER JEL. Its for burns. By the first aid section (bandaids/ointments)

Re: Cooking Idiot!!

Do you have a crock pot? If you don't, it might be a good thing to get, they aren't expensive either....and you probably won't burn yourself!!

There are alot of recipes you can make in it and you just put everything in the pot, turn it on and let it cook - spaghetti sauce, chicken catticatore, beef stroganoff, soups, chilis, pork chops, pot roast, pulled pork. You can get recipes free on the internet. I like that I am making only one pot dirty too. And you can freeze some of it as well. It might be a good way to start out.

Definitely get the good oven mitts, not cheap ones, and be careful, if you get it wet don't use it, the heat will go right through the wet.

Did you see the ad for Dream DInners on here? I saw it and the infomercial - it's in East Northport - I'm going to try it once, I've already signed up. I can cook and I dare say, I'm a rather good cook, but having a little stress at home right now and it would be handy to have these meals in the freezer at home for when I can't cook.

I'm not the best cook yet..still learning. What about baked ziti or lasagna? Also chili too. Those are easy and you can freeze them.

We do have a crockpot but hardly use it. I can't ever seem to find good recipes that don't include pork or some kind of beef product.

Regarding burning myself, I have this tendency to forget about cooking....while I'm cooking. IDK it's BORING it seems to take forever and I hate it. It also doesn't help that DH comes home at 9:30, so I'm already tired.
What happened was, I set a pot on the stove to boil water. I turned on the burner. I went to chat with DH while he was ironing a shirt for the next day. I check the pot. It's not boiling. I go and play on LIF and FB. DH goes to check the pot and he goes, "it's not boiling yet?" so I say "did I turn on the burner?" I get up to see what's going on and as I turn the corner I see that I DID turn on the burner...not the one that the POT was on! The lid to the pot was on the burner that was lit, and I thought DH was going to touch it so I freaked and grabbed the lid not even thinking the METAL lid would be that freaking hot! I just need something I can set and forget, like a crockpot! If you've got recipes please share!! Thanks Chat Icon

Re: Cooking Idiot!!

I kind of wing it a little bit with the crock pot, sometimes I use the cookbook, sometimes not. This is one of my fave's:

4 chicken cutlets
1 can of crushed tomato (the big one)
1 red pepper sliced
1 small onion sliced
1 can of tomato paste - the tiny one
1 small can of diced tomatos - I usually get the one that is already seasoned - either with jalapenos (if you like spicy) or the italian one
- now you pick your seasonings - if I want it more "italian" I use basil, oregano, parsley. - not spicy.
- more spicy - 1 chipotle pepper with adobo sauce - it's a small can in the international aisle - you can freeze the rest of it in a zip lock bag and cut off what you need next time. I also put in parsley and a tsp or so of cumin.

I cook it inthe crock pot for however long you have time for.
