Re: Florida
Some of the upper Keys - Islamorada, etc., not driving so far down to Key West. If you stay within an hour drive to Miami, there is the Seaquarium and Jungle Island to go to which are not crazy, but enjoyable for adults and the 3 year old, also not a tough walk for your friend.
Fly into Miami or Ft. Lauderdale.
Research before you go because spring training starts next week - the Mets are in Pt. St. Lucie - I know there are other teams other places, it's get kind of crazy there - I have a friend that goes every year.
OOOOO - I just saw a commercial for Panama City Beach, FL. Southwest Airlines now has flights to Panama City.

Re: Florida
We loved the Disney resort at Vero Beach. It was perfect for our son as they had lots of activities for young kids but it was relaxing for us. No theme parks, I don't even think we saw any characters, but very family friendly.
