Naming your child the same name as a somewhat friend?
So one of the names on DH and my short list is the same name as a friend... We were closer when we both lived in CA, but now he is in FL and I ma up here, so we don't hang out or really talk - just occasionally on Facebook. DH and I do see him at his job when we go to FL, but we don't hang out after hours or anything.
So would it be strange if we names out kid the same name as him? We already crossed off the name of a very good friend, but this guy is just a semi, casual, type of friend.

I would totally use it.
we are likely naming DD the same as DH's college roommate's daughter. They live in Utah and we dont see them very often anymore

I think thats fine. One of DH best friend named their son James - which is DH's name. I always planned on naming the baby after DH if we had a boy so Im naming my son James despite the fact that they are our good friends and stole our na- I mean named their son James. lol

Re: Naming your child the same name as a somewhat friend?
It depends on the situation. An aquaintance of mine has a name that I LOVE. I had to cross it off my list though because this person isn't really somebody that you'd want to name your child "after" and even though it wouldn't be like that I feel like people would see it that way. Maybe once we move and I'm not around this person anymore I can use it for #2. lol.
So if you're not around this person anyway, I don't see the reason to cross it off your list (unless you'll associate the name to the friend too much)
