Folic Acid
For those of you that take Folic Acid supplements in addition to prenatals, do you take prescription (like a Fiolgard) or just buy 1 gram of Folic Acid pills and take those?

I am homozygous for MTHFR, so I take Metanx. I think if you don't have any other issues, an additional folic acid pill should be totally fine.

When you say "homozygous" does that mean one strand of the MTHFR gene?

When I was pregnant, my OB told me to take an additional 1mg of folic acid in addition to the 1mg that was already in my prenatal.
Now that I'm not pregnant, I just take the prenatal. When I get pregnant, I'll start taking the additional folic acid.
ETA: It was a prescription
