next move: IVF

i'm in the 2ww after my IUI on saturday, but i just had my consult to talk about the next step if this IUI didn't take since it was the 3rd on clomid. he said given all the factors, it's best to jump to IVF.

it's pretty intimidating--the injections especially--but in this weird way, i feel so much better about heading in a more aggressive direction, like this process will finally come to an end with a BFP!

god, i just want a baby, ya know? like i really don't care what it takes to get there at this point. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Chat Icon Chat Icon That's how I feel. My next step is IVF pending approval from insurance.

Hopefully this IUI is it for you and you won't have to worry about it though!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: next move: IVF

I am right there with you. I had 4 IUI all BFN and we are moving on to IVF. I met with a nurse to discuss everything and I am going to an IVF orientatioin tonight and I have an injections class in next weekend. I am nervous but I am ready to be a more aggressive and I prayChat Icon that one round is enough.

Hopefully this cycle will be it for you, but if not, although it may be intimidating right now, you will be glad that you moved on after giving IUI's a try. IMHO, if you are lucky enough to have coverage for IVF or can afford it, it is a blessing to be able to move on. GL to you!!

I just want to wish you lots of luck! You are heading in the right direction! It's really not an easy decision to come to, even though it greatly increases your probabilities for success. And don't be intimidated by the injections. After the first one you'll be a pro!

out of curiosity why go from clomid straight to IVF???
that's like going from the bunny trail to the black diamond with no stops in between.
unless your issue is MF in which case it makes sense.

he said based on my age and how well i responded to clomid, he predicted i'd make like 10-15 follies on injectables, which he said is just dangerous when you're injecting sperm into the uterus with no control. and as it turns out, we do have MF issues. DH's counts have dropped steadily since the first IUI, and last time he was down to 4.5m after the wash, which is just under what they want for the IUI. he also has morphology issues, so he said that IUI doesn't really help with that because the head is not shaped the way it needs to be to penetrate the egg. given that we have good insurance coverage, he thought it was the best way to go.

Hopefully you won't need to go to IVF b/c your IUI worked! But either way - you'll have your baby soon enough. Good luck!!!!
