Out of network anesthesiologist
What happens when you go in network with your IVF coverage and the anesthesiologist for retrieval was out of network? Do you get stuck with the extra fee? Has this happened to anyone?

Re: Out of network anesthesiologist
Yes: you pay OOP. You can then put it in through your insurance, depending on how good it is, it may reimburse you. The cost for IVF follie retrieval typically runs around $750-$1000. IMO: money well worth it because a nice, steady, relaxed patient means there will be more follies easily retrieved.
If you don't have good insurance, you may be able to work out a cash deal with the anesthesia group (not the anesthesiologist him or herself). Call ahead of time.
Added to say: That was how I chose my insurance (I asked my RE which would reimburse the best). I still had to pay a couple thousand OOP. It was worth it though! The whole experience, looking back, cost less than a luxury vacation. We always call our DS the best money we ever spent (but it was HARD and scary saving it up). A good tip is to do a FLEX spending account if your job offers it (tax free).

Thanks. It seems the anesthesiologist already put it through to my insurance even though she was out of network, and I am getting mailed a check to me for 1/3 of what she is charging. I hope she accepts this 1/3 payment because $3,000 for anesthesia is crazy.
