Re: Eh. intralipids

I've had Intralipid treatments probably 6 times or so. Maybe more, I've lost count!

It's administered intravenously. It's a lipid infusion, takes about 2 hrs. The intralipid script for the meds was covered but not the administration. I have United Healthcare too. A friend of mine is a nurse and he's done it for me each time. FM me if you want his name and number.

A couple of times, I had slight headaches and dizziness. I just take a couple of tylenol before hand. A girlfirend of mine that I always did the treatments with always felt fine-I'm just very sensitive to drugs.

Lots of luck!

Re: Eh. intralipids

ive done intralipids enough times that I cant count either - something like 6 times or so at least.

i have UHC and every treatment and administration WAS covered - so it def depends on what plan you have. i used Trinity Homecare. they were fabulous. Dr. B would call it in a day or two before I needed it, and Trinity would set it all up with the nurses and everything. i would always receive a shipment of the meds beforehand, and then the nurse would arrive to administer. i had several different nurses and they were all very good with IVs and friendly.

the actual meds are nothing. i mean yes, its annoying to have to sit there for 2-3 hours with an IV in your arm... but there were no real side effects for me. intralipids are really just a "bag of fat." to be honest im not quite sure how it works, but the end result is it quieting your immune system so that it doesnt attack an implanting embryo.

LOL once daily would be a nightmare!!!

for me it was once per cycle before ovulation.
when i got pregnant i did another treatment, and then the next day dr. B repeated the Reprosource blood panel. it came back fine and i did two more treatments up to 12weeks. after that i didn't need to do anymore and im a little past 18w now.

It's usually done around ovulation or if you're doing IVF a week to a couple of days before transfer. Dr. B said it lasts about 4-6 weeks. If you get pregnant, Dr. B will repeat the immune testing to compare and then decide. Usually, you'll have treatments up until 12 weeks, so I guess as many as 3.

As flowerwife mentioned, it does depend upon your insurance, but I've only heard of it being covered for two ladies on this board so far! Call your insurance just to ask. They'll probably recommend Trinity and then you'll call them. They'll say that it can take 3 weeks to be approved but mention the time sensitivity and speak to a "higher up!" You'll receive an answer within a couple of days and then a letter in the mail.

yes at your house.

also as far as insurance goes, when i needed it i needed it next day. there was no time to find out if it was covered. it was Judy (at Dr. B's) recommendation to try trinity and they were really great. not only did they take care of all of the insurance stuff, but the rep i spoke to took care of finding out if it was covered. she called me several times with updates. ultimately i didnt know for sure it was covered until after my treatment. she said if it hadnt been covered everything wouldve cost around $450 for the meds and the administration.
