more random questions about spotting
just thought i'd ask here in case anyone knows - otherwise I am going to bank the question for my doctor at my next appointment. I thought about googling but google does more harm than good usually.
so - brown spotting is okay because its old blood (per my doctor and other people's doctors, etc...). but where did that "old" blood come from and why is it not concerning that there was blood in the first place?

Re: more random questions about spotting
Well I am no doctor, but unfortunately I have had my fair share of both spotting and full out bleeding last pregnancy and this pregnancy
I would not say brown blood is "okay" but is less alarming and more comforting than red spotting but the cause of the spotting still needs to be addressed because at one point it was "red" blood, though perhaps it never came out...
For example:
I have had subcorionic hematomas (blood clots on the uterus)...The blood may be coming out very slowly and may be turning brown in the interim...Think of it as an internal wound ...
I also had placenta previa twice...You can start off bleeding heavily (red) and as it begins to coagulate it will start to turn brown meaning there is no fresh blood ( thus no fresh "wound")
Or even just an internal may cause a superficial wound to your cervix and theres not enough red blood to come gushing out, but by the time it comes out its brown (indicating old blood)
This is essence is how it was described to me...Brown blood is better because it generally means your body is healing (and of-course if heaven forbid your were having a MC, there would not be "healing")
