Re: challah... anyone care to share their recipe?
This is my mom's recipe but I've never been brave enough to try it myself.
4c flour 3tsp sugar 2tsp yeast 1c warm water 2tsp salt 2 Tbl oil 2 eggs
Mix water, 1 1/2 cups flour, sugar, and yeast. Cover and let rise 20 minutes in warm place until frothy.
Add remaining flour, salt, oil, eggs. Knead dough 5-6 minutes. Cover and let rise 12-24 hours in the fridge.
Let sit on counter 1/2 hour to lose its chill. Divide into 3 equal parts. Briad the dough, and then let rise 1/2 hour. Brush with egg yolk for color.
Bake at 425 for 15 minutes. Turn down the over to 375 for 30 minutes for small loaves or 45 minutes for large loaves.
Mini Challah: Divide dough into 6 pieces and braid to make 2 smaller loaves.

Re: challah... anyone care to share their recipe?
thanks!!!
looks like a good recipe... i'm learning that dough that's slow to rise (like in the fridge) tend to taste better.
i'll be back to let you know how it goes
