MTHFR

So I know my homocysteine is high. Does this mean I have this gene mutation? My dr never mentioned MTHFR, but I am just curious.

No idea Chat Icon I just found out I have the gene mutation yesterday. I'm still trying to figure out what it all means. Good luck!

I would ask. I know with my MTHFR mutation, my RE told me I could never be on the birth control pill again because if my homocysteine levels were out of wack I could have even greater risk of stroke, clot, etc. So it may pay to know.

(hence I didn't not use bcp during IVF)

I would think this does mean that you likely have some form of it, but I have no clue. You should ask your doctor. I would get tested for it regardless if you can as you may have the type that requires Lovenox, heparin or baby aspirin. I would also think about getting the full thrombophilia panel for clotting disorders done.
